[Q&A]
- Q: Can I intern in a laboratory?
A: No. The program is for practical workplace experience in registered companies/institutions. Laboratories are research units and do not meet the "labor-based" requirement. - Q: Can I find company or institution on my own?
A: Yes. The company must submit the required forms by the April 6 deadline for approval. The UPTP Office does not accept hiring documents submitted directly by students. - Q: What should I prepare once hired?
A: Extend your ARC and apply for a work permit. The UPTP office will provide an updated certificate of enrollment for the ARC extension. The extension fee shall be paid by the student. - Q: How do I apply for a Work Permit?
A: Apply online through the NTUST Office of International Affairs website.
You should prepare:- Application consent form (download)
- Certificate of enrollment (from UPTP Office)
- Passport and ARC scans
- 100$NTD processing fee receipt
- Q: The accomadation during the internship?
A: We recommand to stay at the Yuantong Yazhu Student Dormitory. The program covers costs until July 31; students must pay for August themselves (NT$4,200) by August 5. - Q: Will the office provide internship vacancies, or should we find them ourselves?
A: As per tradition, the UPTP Project Office will proactively contact companies to invite them to provide internship positions. The project office will announce the recruitment notice once it receives the job description. In addition, students are encouraged to approach the company independently. If a company is interested in hiring UPTP students, it must contact Diana in the UPTP Project Office and submit the completed "Internship Organization Basic Information Form" to the UPTP by April 6. - Q: Must I return to Paraguay immediately after the internship ends?
A: Yes! But the exact flight date is unknown. The project office will conduct the usual bidding process for air tickets. It is expected that a partner travel agency will be commissioned to arrange for interns to return to Paraguay between the end of their internship and August 31. (Note: Monthly stipends will only be issued until July 2026, regardless of internship participation.) - Q: Will poor Chinese language skills affect my internship?
A: It depends. Usually, the company will try its best to assign supervisors who can communicate in English. However, specific requirements vary by unit. The project office will specify language requirements when the vacancies are announced. - Q: Does the internship have to be two months long? Why is it shorter than before?
A: The internship period is from June 15 to August 15. This intensive summer internship allows students to accumulate approximately 320 hours (up to 40 hours per week) within two months (July and August). - Q: Is it acceptable if my GPA is very close to the threshold? Are there opportunities for those who do not meet the GPA requirement?
A: No. To ensure fairness, all students must meet the required grades. Transcripts, including the GPA calculation for the 114-1 semester, must be attached when submitting resumes to companies. Students who do not meet the grade threshold are not eligible for these internship opportunities. - Q: How will the office handle it if I apply to multiple companies and more than one company sends back the "Internship Information Form"?
A: The UPTP office and the four respective departments will review all submitted forms to ensure legal compliance. Should multiple companies submit Internship Information forms while vacancies remain, we will announce these openings to all UPTP students. - Q: What is the total quota for the internship program?
A: A maximum of 35 students.
[Important Notice:]
The internship period this year is two months. As the NTUST exchange program is not an internship program, it may only be recognized as fulfilling the internship hour requirements for UPTP students’ graduation.
Students who are interested in undertaking an internship in Taiwan are advised to apply through relevant programs after completing their exchange at NTUST and returning to Paraguay. For more information, please refer to the following links:
