Internship

Internship Policy for 2025

UPTP students may apply for internships in Taiwan after completing their final semester at Taiwan Tech. Due to the Ministry of Education's updated regulations, UPTP students can no longer stay in Taiwan under the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) for internship purposes. Therefore, all UPTP internships must comply with the Ministry of Labor's regulations:

  • All internships must be work-based, requiring an official employer-employee relationship and a valid work permit.
  • Employers must provide both labor and health insurance coverage.
  • During the summer, UPTP students, like all international students in Taiwan, may work up to 40 hours per week for a maximum of 8 consecutive weeks, totaling 320 hours.
  • During the academic semester, UPTP students may work up to 20 hours per week for 18 weeks, totaling 360 hours. The remaining 20 hours per week must be allocated to coursework. Employers must submit a class syllabus and an evaluation plan.
  • However, the semester intern is not recommended unless the employer can provide a qualified instructor and conduct formal lectures.
  • A formal contract must be established between the employer and Taiwan Tech.

Eligibility & Application Process for UPTP Students.

To qualify for an internship, students must have achieved a minimum semester GPA of 80/100 in the semester preceding their application.

- Cohort 2023 students must have a minimum average grade of 80/100 to qualify for an internship.
- Cohort 2022 students are exempt from this requirement.

The UPTP Project Office will no longer accept offer letters submitted by students. Instead, the office will assess company qualifications and announce available positions and contact details to all UPTP students on behalf of the companies. Companies interested in offering internships to UPTP students should directly contact Ms. Kuro Chen at the UPTP Project Office.

Internship Application Process:

1. Company Application
The company must complete the Internship Institution Information Form and the Internship Institution Evaluation Form and submit them to the UPTP project office.
2. Qualification Review
The UPTP Project Office reviews the company's qualifications and internship content.
Once approved, internship information will be announced to students.
3. Interview
The company conducts its own interviews with students.
By May 2, 2025, the company must submit the list of accepted interns to the UPTP Project Office.
4. Contract Signing & Course Selection
Taiwan Tech (NTUST) signs an off-campus internship agreement with the internship institution.
Each department assists students in selecting internship courses.
5. Supervision & Evaluation
Advising professors will conduct visits during the internship period.

After the internship ends, the company must provide an internship evaluation, and students have to submit an internship report to the department. For further information regarding the internship, students are encouraged to contact the staff in each department at Taiwan Tech:
