UPTP Project Conference Grant
UPTP Project Conference Grant for 2025
UPTP students are encouraged to actively participate in international conferences by presenting scholarly papers or posters. This grant covers essential expenses, including conference registration fees, living expenses, and round-trip airfare for both UPTP students and their supervising professors. To ensure that more students can benefit from the grant, the following criteria were approved during the UPTP project preparatory meeting held on December 5th, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
1. The conference grant is limited to one student per paper/poster. The student must hold either the first or second authorship of the submitted paper/poster. In cases where the UPTP student is the second author, the first author must be the supervising professor.
2. Presentation of the work at the conference is mandatory, either in an oral or poster format.
3. Upon approval by the evaluation committee, the grant amount, capped at a maximum of NTD 100,000 per paper/poster. The amount of the grant will be subject to adjusted based on the number of applications.
4. Eligibility for grant funding is limited to once per year for each UPTP student.
Application Procedure
Applicants are required to email the following documents to the UPTP project office at milk.cat35@mail.ntust.edu.tw, with the subject line "Application for Conference Grant: [CONFERENCE NAME]". The email should contain:
1. Full paper of the paper or the poster.
2. Acceptance letter from the conference.
3. Transcript of the student.
4. Recommendation letter from the supervising professor.
5. Other beneficial documents.
The UPTP project office will form an evaluation committee to review the applications within one month following the receipt of the application.
Application Deadline
1. Applications must be submitted by the first day of the month preceding the conference start date.
2. Should the deadline fall on a weekend, national holiday, or other statutory holidays, it will be extended to the next working day.
Reimbursement Procedure
1. The grant is a reimbursement and not a pre-conference disbursement. Students are required to initially cover the expenses, and department will be responsible for the reimbursement procedure after the conference.
2. Reimbursement claims must be filed to the staff of each department within 15 days of returning to Taiwan, supported by the conference paper/poster, a one-page report with photos of your oral presentation as shown in the report template, and all relevant receipts ( e-ticket-economy class only, boarding passes, registration receipt, visa application receipt, etc.).
Additional Regulations
1. Two Affiliations must be clearly indicated in the paper/poster:
a. [Your Specific Department], Taiwan-Paraguay Polytechnic University (UPTP), Asuncion, Paraguay
b. [Your Specific Department], National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), Taipei, Taiwan
2. The following sentence must be mentioned in the Acknowledgement:
This work was financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan) under UPTP project.
3. The UPTP Project Conference Grant does not extend to conferences hosted in China.
